PAIA manual
Our manual under section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000. Every private body in South Africa must have one and must make it available.
If you only want your own information, you do not need any of this. Sign in, open privacy settings, and choose "Download my data". It is immediate and free. This manual is for requesting records more broadly.

- Income Tax Act 58 of 1962 and Value Added Tax Act 89 of 1991
- Basic Conditions of Employment Act 75 of 1997
- Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995
- Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013
- Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002
6. How to request a record
- Use Form 2 of the PAIA regulations, available from the Information Regulator.
- Send it to info@imentorlink.co.za, marked for the Information Officer.
- Give enough detail to find the record, say how you want it, and give contact details.
- If you are asking on someone else's behalf, include proof that you may.
- If your request is to exercise or protect a right, say which right and how the record helps.
We answer within 30 days. We may extend that once by up to 30 days, and we will tell you in writing if we do.
7. Fees
The fees are those prescribed in the PAIA regulations. A request for your own personal information carries no request fee. Other requesters pay the prescribed request fee, and both may pay an access fee for search, copying and delivery. We will tell you what it comes to before we do the work.
8. When we may refuse
PAIA requires or permits refusal in certain cases, including where a record:
- Would unreasonably disclose someone else's personal information (section 63)
- Contains commercial information of a third party (section 64)
- Was given to us in confidence (section 65)
- Would endanger someone's life or safety (section 66)
- Is privileged in legal proceedings (section 67)
- Contains our own trade secrets or research (sections 68 and 69)
We give reasons in writing when we refuse, and we tell you how to appeal.
Section 70 still applies: we must release a record where doing so reveals a substantial contravention of the law or an imminent and serious public safety risk, and the public interest outweighs the harm.
9. If we refuse
You may complain to the Information Regulator, or apply to a court. We will explain both when we answer.
10. Availability
